Permanent teeth usually appear between 5 and 14 years of age
Between 6 and 12 years old, a child will have both milk teeth and permanent teeth. We call this a mixed dentition. The 32 permanent adult teeth appear gradually. If their enamel wears out, it will not be replaced. It’s important at this stage to help your child develop a good oral care habit of brushing, flossing and rinsing with an antibacterial mouthwash to look after their permanent teeth.
